The Gathering

Every Tuesday night at 7 pm we come together to celebrate community, discuss the Bible, and connect with God through worship. This all happens at the Danforth Chapel in Hubbard Park, right next to the IMU.

This semester we will be discussing 1 Corinthians. If you miss a Gathering event, check out our podcast, CCF of Iowa! The Gatherings, Food 4 Thoughts, and other events will show up routinely if you access the podcast through Spotify or Apple Podcast!

After Gathering Hangouts

Every week after the Gathering we do a fun hangout! Most weeks we play glow-in-the-dark Ultimate Frisbee in Hubbard Park, but we also play board games in the IMU, grab cupcakes or fro-yo, or go back to the Space for an Escape Room!

CCF Staff

John Johnson, Campus Minister – John began in campus ministry as a student at Western Illinois University where he led worship, served as a small group leader, and realized the incredible opportunity that campus ministry presents. Because of this, he now works at CCF in Iowa. Prior to coming to Iowa City, he completed a Master in Divinity from Lincoln Christian Seminary with an emphasis in Worship Studies. John has a passion for board games, Chicago sports teams, movies, and leading others into a deeper relationship with Christ. He is the guy that tends to speak during the Gathering and will warm you with his sense of humor, charm, and humility. On top of all of these attributes, John's life is made busier and more enjoyable because of his wife Mandy, and two kids, Brennan and Zoë.

Aaron Schweitzer, Campus Minister - Aaron grew up in Cedar Lake, Indiana, where he was actively involved in the local church. Right before Sophomore year in high school, Aaron felt a call and decided to pursue full-time ministry as a career. He eventually went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Youth and Family Ministry and later a Master of Arts in Spiritual Formation from Lincoln Christian University. During Undergrad, Aaron discovered his passion for Campus Ministry and now works with CCF in Iowa City. Aaron is starting a family by getting married December 2019. Some of Aaron's favorite things besides ministry are watching movies, playing drums, and his 1-year-old Corgi, Cheddar! Aaron loves meeting new people and if that is you, you can find him more in the background at The Gathering or often reading/writing on campus.
